Durabla Manufacturing Company and Durabla Canada Ltd. Asbestos Trust

Company Background

Durabla Manufacturing Company was founded in 1911, followed by its sister company, Durabla Canada Ltd., in 1922. Both organizations specialized in manufacturing sheet gaskets that contained asbestos.

The History

Durabla's gasket products were widely used in vehicles and industrial machinery. For over 60 years, the company was a primary supplier to the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Workers such as mechanics, boiler operators, and factory personnel were exposed to asbestos fibers when cutting or handling these gaskets, placing them at significant health risk.

Asbestos exposure from Durabla's products led to numerous lawsuits. As a result, Durabla Manufacturing Company and Durabla Canada Ltd. filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and 2010.

The Asbestos Trust was established to fairly compensate individuals impacted by asbestos exposure from Durabla products.
