Fairbanks Personal Injury Trust

The Fairbanks Personal Injury Trust was established in January 2023 following the confirmation of the Joint Plan of Reorganization of Fairbanks International, Inc. History

Founded in 1887, the Fairbanks Company manufactures manual material handling equipment at its Rome, Georgia facility. In earlier years, the company also engineered, sold, and distributed iron and bronze valves containing asbestos packing material. This material was used for insulation and sealing purposes.

Unfortunately, prolonged exposure to this asbestos material resulted in serious health issues for many users and employees, including severe respiratory conditions and fatalities. To address current and future claims, Fairbanks filed for bankruptcy in 2018. After approval of its Chapter 11 reorganization plan, the Fairbanks Personal Injury Trust was created in 2023.
