Porter Hayden Bodily Injury Trust

History

The Porter Hayden Bodily Injury Trust was established in 2007 following the confirmation of the Chapter 11 Joint Plan of Reorganization. The initial funds placed into the Trust exceeded $1 million.

Porter Hayden Company, founded in 1966, distributed asbestos-containing insulation products until the early 1980s. Although not a manufacturer, the company supplied insulation materials made by other producers. Workers continued handling these materials extensively until the 1990s.

As a result of long-term asbestos exposure, numerous lawsuits were filed by employees and contractors who developed asbestos-related illnesses. The mounting litigation ultimately led to the company's bankruptcy filing in 2002. The Trust was then created to resolve and pay these claims.

Purpose of the Trust

The Trust was formed to process, liquidate, and compensate valid asbestos personal injury claims in accordance with the Trust Distribution Procedures (TDP).
